This interactive kinetic sculpture was created in collaboration with the Kindergarten children of Whitney Young Early Childhood Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I spent 2007 – 2008 as an artist in residence at the school. This is a magnet school in an urban setting and implements the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education. This approach encourages children to explore concepts and acquire skills through a project-based emergent curriculum. At the School there is a special emphasis on the arts and outstanding teachers and staff. This sculpture was supported in part by an Individual Artist Grant from the Indiana Arts Commission.
